Urban Prep Charter School Sees 100% College Bound Rate For First Graduates

Urban Prep Charter Academy is a different kind of school in Chicago. Founded in 2006 by Tim King, the school was meant from the start to put inner city youth into a better place: colleges.

The school has done exactly that. Out of 150 freshman who started in 2006, 95 lasted all four years at Urban Prep and another 12 students transferred in after freshman year.

The 107 seniors who make up the graduating class have achieved a remarkable 100% college acceptance rate.

Secular Coalition of America Comes Out Against the Kagan Nomination

The Secular Coalition for America has come out against Elena Kagan for Supreme Court Justice, citing her lack of vigilance in guarding the separation of church and state.

They have outlined five specific instances to show Kagan does not have the same judicial philosophy of Justice Stevens, including one instance where they claim she appears to "directly rebuff the church-state jurisprudence of Justice Stevens."

Twenty-Five Armed Men Attack and Burn Gaza Summer Camp

For the second time in a little over a month, a UN ran summer camp for children has been attacked and burned in central Gaza.

The raid time was very similar to a previous attack on May 23rd. Each time the camp was stormed by approximately twenty-five armed and masked men, the on-duty security guard was tied up, and equipment, tents and art supplies were burned. No one was injured in either attack.
